At the young age of 93 and with a little love in his heart, Chris Wurth died at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN on August 4, 2009, at 12:55 a.m. Chris left behind his family, a wealth of friends both young and old, and his much-cherished community of St. John’s.
Born on January 27, 1916, Chris saw immense changes during his lifetime. He saw the world as a medic in the 38th Artillery Battalion for 39 months and 13 days. Serving his country during WWII, Chris was involved in the campaigns in Tunisia, Morocco, invasions of Sicily, Italy, and Southern France. The Silver Star for Bravery on the battlefield was bestowed upon him by General Clark.
Chris retired from Modine Manufacturing Company of Paducah, but many know him as the “elderly gentleman” at Wurth Farms. He was quick to grin, converse, and guide those seeking advice on growing plants of all kinds. With a generous heart, his bountiful harvests of fruits and vegetables were showered upon his friends and acquaintances.
Simply stated, Chris hunted with good dogs, was true to his friends, and loved a good woman.
We will miss you!
